About
The River Church is a group of people who Jesus has saved and sent to be missionaries. We are a church designed to help you live out your faith in the 21st century meeting it’s unique challenges with Pentecostal power and Godly wisdom. We teach that the ‘word of faith’ is our final authority in life in a contemporary and relevant way that connects your faith with the world you live in.
With over 25 nations represented in The River and a range of ages, we are the most international church in Devon.
The River is across three churches in Devon, in Exeter, Plymouth and Barnstaple, as well as our online church. You find out more about what to expect at one of our services.
Who are Our Pastors?
Our Senior Pastors are Michael and Marion Meyers, who started the church under God’s instruction in 1997 as missionaries from South Africa. We have a further leadership team that oversees The River and our activities.
Our Vision
God called Pastors Michael and Marion with a vision to “revive the church to harvest the world.” We believe that as Christians we should be radical disciples of Jesus and that our lives should be full of faith, power and love.
We are labourers with Christ in building a strong local church that is relevant, welcoming, compelling, and all about Jesus.
Who is the River Affiliated With?
The River Church is part of a highly credible worldwide movement of churches, Elim Pentecostal Churches, where nationally we are represented by 650 local churches across the UK and many more worldwide.
We are also part of the Evangelical Alliance, which is the largest body of Evangelical churches in the UK.
Our Exeter Church is also part of the Exeter Evangelical Partnership and Churches Together in Central Exeter. We work with our churches in the cities and towns that we are in to bring the gospel to the people who live there.
We are committed to seeing the churched revived and the unchurched reached for Christ. Our student pastor and ministry is vital to that mission in reaching the university with the love of God.
